I suppose by now you will have noticed that I, Phil always do my entries in Arial blue text whilst Claire does hers in Times New Roman black text. This is so its easy for you to tell at a glance who is writing that particular entry. However, you only have to read a couple of lines to tell the difference in writing styles, grammar and English to see that Claire was perhaps better prepared from her school days than I. I felt I had to jazz my entries up a little to make it more interesting for you.
What a week, this week but nearly over now and we will be shooting off tomorrow morning to the airport ready to play the waiting game for a day or so until we arrive in Hong Kong. Claire is better at telling the bad things so I will leave her to sum up our week tomorrow briefly while I concentrate on the good parts. As it’s our last week we had a bit of a get together with Harriet and friends. Also George and Joan are off to their place in Minorca in less than two weeks for the winter and it won’t be until next March that we next meet up. For the last few weeks we have switched venues to the Ship Ashore as its reasonably priced and has quite a good menu to choose from. The fish mixed grill is good value for example and they do “small plates” if you are not so hungry. A little like Tapas where you can choose as many plates as you like from the menu. Harriet stuck to her usual steak without anything green on the plate. A great night was had by all but we were sad to have missed Alfi who was a little under the weather. We all had a great night except for George who had to drive for the second week on the trot. Shirley also decided to drive as she has now gone tea total after last weekend. Harriet had to drive as her Dad Chris has just come out of hospital recovering from his hip replacement and she has to stay there and look after him this week. Oh and Dan had to drive also as he needs to catch the early train to London Hospital where he is a Cardio-Radiologist. You don't want any drunk ones of those. Well, Claire and I enjoyed it anyway; it also looks like Vanessa did too. Good luck with Machu Picchu! Thanks for the lifts Harriet and Shirley, see you next March!
One restaurant I forgot to mention in my food around Milton Keynes blog earlier in the week is the Jaipur if you like spice. It’s a purpose built up market Indian restaurant that also has a Thai restaurant upstairs. They just won a 2009 Great Britain spice award where the top 11 places are chosen (why eleven?). It’s not cheap but excellent quality and service, both upstairs and down. See www.jaipur.co.uk .
Goodbye England, see you next Spring! Next stop Hong Kong in a couple of day’s time, merry Christmas everyone!
