I can’t believe that we have been here two days now and I haven’t seen a kangaroo yet. Nor a bush baby, koala or any other marsupials. No dingo’s or possums, not even an Aborigine; just trees like ours, streets like ours, dogs, cats and birds, just like ours. I was expecting it to be different over here. Mind you, on the up side, they do seem to like a drink or two.
We got back from the supermarket shopping yesterday at about five and decided to have an early drink and an early night again as we were to drive into Melbourne In the morning. Just as we settled down we heard a shout from the front door; it was Kerry popping in from work to see if we were ok. Kerry is friends with Arlene and used to work with her so Claire wasted no time finding out everyone’s secrets. We had just got going when Jeremy came back from work with a large pizza so the girls shared that with him while I got everyone another drink.
Not sure what time we got to bed but we both felt rough this morning. We barely managed to get into Melbourne until afternoon. We had a quick drink in the Waterside Hotel but the drinks are so expensive compared to home. We had a walk along the river by the park and found a little Indian place to eat where you get three curries and rice for about £3.50, a little under the price of a drink. We saw a few more skyscrapers and headed back to the car. I don’t think its worth driving into Melbourne as you have traffic lights the whole way there, heavy traffic, it costs over $12 for your days etag and another $18 to park for 2 hours; If you go on the train its about $12 for the pair of us and probably takes the same time and you don’t pay for parking by the hour; no worries!
I think tomorrows plan will be to drive The Great Ocean Road so not sure if we will have wi-fi available to us. We expect to be gone for a few days, maybe stopping on the road one night and one or two nights in Adelaide and maybe stopping another night on the way back.
