Since Ian and Jane have been here they have had me driving all over the place with no time to write anything. Tonight we are out for a night on the town in Berwick and early tomorrow we are on the train to Melbourne for the day and will be staying over in a hotel near the skybus so they can easily get to the airport for their flight back to Sydney. We actually intended to go out Friday night in Berwick and we all sat outside drinking while Ian and Jane tried to sort out all their problems back home. With the snow and all, the kids and Jane’s dad all flying out to Sydney on Saturday night and meeting them at the airport when they land within an hour of each other. Problem after problem was solved until there was no time to go out after all and Jeremy offered to go out for a Thai takeaway for us; he loves driving the car.
Today we went around the Dingdongs again and had another great day but it was a little cold again. Ian and Jane went on Puffing Billy while Claire and I followed the train route as close as we could so we could pick them up at the end and they didn’t need to get a return ticket. They were a little delayed as the chartered train which left before the 11.10am could enter the station was delayed because Father Christmas pulled a bird. We stopped under the bridge and waited and waited so I decided to walk down and see what the bridge went over; a very small creek. Eventually the train arrived and Ian and Jane were in the front carriage. We met them again at Menzies station where the train usually stops for about 10 minutes and I had them a hot chocolate ready cause I remembered how cold we were when we arrived at that station. We then arrived at lakeside ready to commence our journey together again.
We set off for Saffrasaf where we shared two ploughman’s lunches between the four of us at fortnums, determined to go out in Berwick tonight. Most places seem full or close to it as it’s getting towards Christmas time and all the office parties and family parties are out in force. Again we headed off to Dandenong peak for the views but it was even mistier than last time we were up there. Back to Berwick to book a restaurant for the evening but again most places were fully booked at this time of year. We managed to book the last table at Ashcrofts so headed off home to prepare ourselves.
