Caesars Palace Shoe Shopping Centre

This is a very short entry with lots of pictures so should be easy reading. Claire was trying to keep a low profile today so that the Las Vegas Mafia wouldn’t spot her. We had a late night for us last night not getting back until 1am but I guess that most people here have only just got started by then. We both slept great and the sun was shining when we wandered out for a walk but it was still quite cold when not in the sun. Claire was pretending to be freezing so that she could keep her hood up all day and nobody would recognise her. Also Claire’s boots were hurting her and we seemed to hunt endlessly for a comfy pair for her. It’s quite a long walk from our hotel even to the strip so her feet were already sore when we got there. We ventured into Caesars Palace and walked around 2 levels which seemed around the size of Milton Keynes shopping centre. We looked at a map and found an ATM to start with and then headed towards the Shoe shop called “The Walking Company”. We had a quick look in a posh shoe shop where I looked at a pair of pumps for her only to find that they were going for the bargain price of $545. Claire spotted some flip flops on a stall and bought a pair for $10, changing into them immediately. The first pair she found were both left feet and I called them “flip flip’s”. Also I can’t tell you the effort I went to before finding an ATM, you would imagine that of all places, Las Vegas should have them everywhere so people can get at more money easily. They all seem to charge to draw money out as well and do the old trick, of not letting you draw much in one go so that you go back and pay the charge more often.

We found the shoe company and Claire seemed to like all the shoes in there which is very unusual because she usually can’t find anything that she likes. She ended up buying two pairs because she couldn’t chose between them. The first pair she got were UGG shoes with fur in the bottom; we travelled most of the way around Australia where they are made and she ends up buying them from Caesars palace. The second pair were even more unusual and made by the Walking Company so were really comfy to walk in. Claire changed from her new flip flops into her new favourite shoes and imagined that everyone was looking at them and admiring them as she walked along. I wondered why she carried an empty back pack all day. I guess that all her old shoes will be in the bin when I wake up.

We stopped for a quick Corona in a Mexican bar within the Caesar Palace grounds and were joined by one of those “funny guys” in a costume that was having a bad day. He phoned his wife to tell her that he had only made $3 all day, and we could see them in his second hat. However, he neglected to tell her that he had spent the rest on rum and coke.
